Summary

This is a presentation prepared and shared by Mr. Pradip Kumar Koirala on Disaster Management; DRR-related Policy Provisions, Acts and Rules, and Regulations of the Government of Nepal along with Nepal’s Vulnerability to Natural Hazards, causes, and major types of Disaster.

It clarifies that the government of Nepal has promulgated various laws and policies, including Natural Calamity (Relief) Act, 1982, and National Strategy on Disaster Risk Management (NSDRM), 2009. The act has provisioned a Committee chaired by the Minister of Home Affairs at the central level, the Regional Natural Disaster Relief Committee at the regional level, and the District Natural Disaster Relief Committee at the district level.
