The research letter on Detailed rupture imaging of the 25 April 2015 Nepal earthquake using teleseismic P waves was written by Wenyuan Fan and Peter M. Shearer. In this study, the author analyses the rupture process of the 25 April 2015 Nepal earthquake using globally recorded teleseismic P waves. The findings suggest a multistage rupture process, with an initial slow-down dip rupture followed by two faster up-dip ruptures. The majority of the energy was released northeast of Kathmandu. The results align with the Global Centroid Moment Tensor solution and are validated by comparing them with nearby aftershocks. The observed multistage rupture and aftershock distribution can be explained by a multiple-asperity model.
