This study paper analyzes the patterns of forest fires in Nepal and identifies key factors involved in their ignition and spread. It highlights that forest fires in Nepal are primarily human-induced and occur during the dry season, with a majority of them (89%) happening in March, April, and May. The challenging mountainous terrain and limited time window make fire suppression efforts more difficult.
The study provides insights into the spatial and temporal patterns of forest fires in Nepal, identifies key risk factors, and offers a practical approach for assessing and ranking fire risk at the district and VDC levels.
