This case study evaluates UNESCO's response to the 2015 earthquakes in Nepal within the broader context of its role in education during emergencies. Focusing on UNESCO's Kathmandu Office, the study underscores the immediate engagement in the education response despite budget and resource constraints. While the office demonstrated efficiency and relevance in its limited-scale response, the success was attributed more to ad hoc factors and individual initiatives than institutional commitment. Challenges faced by the office revealed the absence of a cohesive organizational strategy for education in emergencies and specific frameworks for emergency response.
