This paper discusses disaster risk reduction and management systems in South Asian countries, highlighting challenges such as vulnerability to various hazards, economic losses, and the importance of preparedness. It emphasizes the cross-border nature of disasters and the need for regional cooperation, good governance, and environmental management to minimize impacts. Despite efforts post-2005, there is a gap in implementing resilient building measures, underscoring the importance of a robust disaster risk management system and coordinated efforts among actors in the region.
