The paper is regarding the increasing losses from natural disasters in South Asia, driven by natural vulnerabilities and human factors, which are linked to climate change. Integration of climate change adaptation (CCA) and DRR policies for effective risk management and sustainable development faces inconsistencies. Six research projects across three South Asian countries examined progress, identified research needs, and explored mechanisms to enhance CCA-DRR implementation. While localized improvements were noted, weak institutional coordination between disaster response and climate change planning persists. The imperative of addressing combined natural and anthropogenic hazards for sustainable development has not fully reached key institutional levels. The report suggests addressing knowledge gaps and proposing recommendations to advance the convergence of disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation.
