The meeting, attended by around 60 participants, including key figures such as Mr. Anil Pokhrel (Executive Chief of NDRRMA) and Dr. Bhisma Kumar Bhusal (Chief of Disaster Management Division, MoHA), focused on updating and prioritizing preparatory activities. Dr. Raju Thapa, Chairperson of DPNet, emphasized the significance of the conference, scheduled for October 2024, and highlighted the need for effective collaboration, registration, and communication among stakeholders to ensure a well-coordinated presence. The discussions also addressed challenges in disaster risk reduction (DRR), emphasizing the importance of collective efforts and strategic planning for Nepal's participation in the conference.
On July 15, 2024, DPNet Nepal, in partnership with DiMaNN and NCDMC, held a discussion on enhancing DRR through collaboration. Mr. Surya Bahadur Thapa led the event, addressing recent disaster impacts and highlighting the role of these networks in DRR advocacy and grassroots implementation. Dr. Raju Thapa emphasized the need for sustained network efforts beyond project funding and encouraged including these networks in development proposals. The event featured discussions on the strengths and future plans of the networks, the importance of collaboration, and the need for integrating local and international efforts in disaster preparedness.
On August 7, 2024, DPNet Nepal coordinated a meeting to prepare for the APMCDRR 2024. Key figures, including Mr. Anil Pokhrel from NDRRMA and Dr. Bhisma Kumar Bhusal from MoHA, discussed the conference's objectives, including disaster risk financing and inclusive governance. Dr. Raju Thapa emphasized the need for a common position paper, sustainable DRR investments, and increased visibility for Nepal’s efforts. On August 7, 2024, DPNet Nepal hosted a virtual program to orient the DPNet Provincial Committee and plan for World Humanitarian Day. The meeting, led by Mr. Suraj Gautam, discussed the draft DPNet Province Committee Regulation, 2081, which aims to structure and govern provincial committees. Dr. Raju Thapa presented the regulation, and Mr. Surya Bahadur Thapa outlined plans for World Humanitarian Day celebrations in Karnali. Feedback on the draft regulation was collected and was ensured to be incorporated into the final version.
