Communities along the Nepal-India border, interconnected culturally and socio-economically, face shared vulnerability to frequent floods, affecting thousands annually. Exacerbated by climate change and Himalayan glacier melting, floods disrupt lives, especially in marginalized, poverty-stricken areas reliant on agriculture. Lutheran World Relief (LWR) and partners aim to enhance resilience by implementing the Transboundary Resilience (TBR) project since 2013. Successes include community preparedness with early warning systems, effective emergency responses, and recovery support through emergency funds and food provisions. By focusing on financial safety nets, diversified livelihoods, disaster risk reduction, early warning systems, citizen advocacy, and government support, LWR envisions building flood-resilient communities for sustainable development in flood-prone regions
