Summary

This document published by the National Reconstruction Authority is a strategic paper draft regarding retrofitting private houses post-2015 Gorkha Earthquake. It gives a way forward such as the selection of the Retrofitting Approach, the selection of appropriate techniques and materials, the need for a comprehensive awareness campaign, Sensitization, and building ownership of the stakeholders, building a guild of local masons trained through OJT, need for Improvement of the supply chain for assuring the quality of the construction materials, and including retrofitting in engineering and vocational training curriculums for resilient reconstruction. These will assist in addressing the challenges faced and the lessons learned while retrofitting.
