Summary

Wetlands are dynamic, diverse, and fertile marshland systems that are considered a crucial part of the natural system from biological, social, environmental, and economic perspectives provide a habitat for rare and various species of flora and fauna. Wetlands plays a significant role in conserving water sources, maintaining their flow and quality.

The wetland areas support activities such as irrigation, fish farming, ecotourism, and agricultural productivity enhancement, contributing significantly to both national and local economies. Wetlands also work to mitigate the effects of climate change and land degradation, serving as an environmental safeguard. This policy makes a substantial contribution towards achieving the objectives outlined by various laws, such as the Forest Act of 1993, Forest Regulations of 2049, National Parks and Wildlife Conservation Act of 2029, and Wildlife Conservation Regulations of 2030. Additionally, it is in line with Nepal's Biodiversity Strategy of 2002.
