Summary

This presentation on Disaster Risk Management in Nepal and NIA’s initiatives and strategies was prepared and shared by Mr. Nirmal Adhikari, Deputy Director, NIA during a policy dialogue organized by DPNet Nepal on “Disaster Risk Transfer and Financing”. This presentation highlights a brief on the Disaster Reduction and Management Act, introduced the National DRRM Council, initiatives by the NIA for disaster risk management, its major responsibilities and the work highlights till date, challenges faced by the insurance authority throughout the years, and the strategies applied to cope with those challenges.
