This is the conclusive report of the Baliyo Ghar program, which aimed to consolidate the valuable insights gained from providing socio-technical assistance for housing reconstruction following the devastating Gorkha earthquake of 2015. The program was carried out by the National Society for Earthquake Technology-Nepal (NSET) and received funding from USAID. It was active from October 1, 2015, until September 30, 2021, with the primary objective of delivering socio-technical assistance for housing reconstruction in close coordination with the National Reconstruction Authority (NRA).
By combining expertise in earthquake technology with socio-economic considerations, the program aimed to rebuild and improve homes in earthquake-affected areas, promoting resilience and sustainability in the communities. The experiences and lessons learned from this endeavor can serve as valuable guidelines for future post-disaster reconstruction efforts and further enhance the understanding of socio-technical aspects in similar contexts.
