Unraveling gendered practices in the public water sector in Nepal

Summary

This document presents a study that addresses the persisting gap between policy commitments and outcomes in the water sector, despite decades of gender mainstreaming efforts. It aims to offer a fresh perspective on these policy gaps by examining the role of gendered discourses, institutions, and professional culture in contributing to the issue. This document has utilized a conceptual framework to conduct analysis which is initially designed for studying strategic change and applied it to the public water sector in Nepal. The document involves reviewing national water policies and conducting semi-structured interviews with male and female water professionals from various public agencies.
