This document is a comprehensive Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act endorsed by the Government of Nepal in 2017. It is a major legal instrument to guide the overall disaster management cycle in the country. This Act replaces the Natural Calamity Relief Act of 1982.
This Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act was published exercising the authority given in the Constitution of Nepal realizing a need to establish a law that facilitates coordinated and effective implementation of all disaster risk reduction and management activities to safeguard public, private, and individual resources, natural and cultural heritage, as well as physical structures from both natural and man-made disasters within the country.
