15 May 2026, Kathmandu, Nepal: DPNet participated in the Project NEAR Nepal / Nepal Localization Lab Review Meeting held at NSET Hindol Hall to discuss localization, civic space, and the sustainability of civil society organizations in Nepal.
The meeting brought together representatives from key national networks and organizations to reflect on ongoing localization efforts and identify opportunities to strengthen local leadership in development and humanitarian action. Discussions emphasized the need for stronger collaboration, improved policy support, and increased direct funding to local NGOs to advance meaningful localization in Nepal.
Key issues discussed included mapping civil society organizations, developing a joint position paper on localization, addressing policy and regulatory barriers, and fostering greater coordination among NGOs, INGOs, donors, and government stakeholders. Participants also stressed the importance of building a “network of networks” to promote collective advocacy and action.
DPNet reaffirmed its commitment to supporting localization efforts through policy advocacy, knowledge sharing, capacity building, and strategic coordination. The organization expressed its readiness to collaborate with partners under the Nepal Localization Lab to strengthen local leadership and create an enabling environment for a more sustainable and resilient civil society sector in Nepal.
