The Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act, of 2074, was enacted on 25 March 2018, establishing the framework for disaster risk reduction and management (विपद् जोखिम न्यूनीकरण तथा व्यिस्थापनका क्षेत्रमा प्राविकरणबाट भइरहेका कार्य र आगामी कार्यवदशा) in Nepal. The implementation of disaster risk reduction has been further emphasized through executive leadership, with the Prime Minister serving as the chairperson of the committee. The Act outlines the roles and responsibilities of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, ensuring executive effectiveness in disaster preparedness and response. The Act also establishes central sources for disaster risk reduction and management, designating the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund as a central resource. The Government of Nepal has received recognition for its commitment to disaster management, with the establishment of disaster management offices in various locations. Additionally, the Act mandates the establishment of regional offices to facilitate disaster management activities. The enactment of this legislation demonstrates Nepal's dedication to minimizing risk and efficiently managing disasters.
