This is an article about the project conducted in Kanchanpur regarding Early Warning Acton. In Nepal, floods and landslides pose significant threats to communities. The Nepal Risk Reduction Consortium's Flagship 4, CBDRR, focuses on reducing vulnerability to natural disasters, emphasizing the need for a community-based EWS. Mercy Corps, a key partner in CBDRR, implemented EWS in Kanchanpur district in 2012, supported by ECHO. The project faced challenges due to heavy rainfall in September 2012, but the established EWS successfully averted casualties, allowing timely evacuation and preparation. While facing communication challenges, the EWS performance in its first year was remarkable, providing valuable data for further improvements in Kanchanpur. The sustained EWS is crucial for saving lives and livelihoods in flood-prone areas.
