This quarterly report highlights DPNet Nepal’s key initiatives from July to August 2025, emphasizing disaster risk reduction, policy advocacy, and community resilience. On July 5, a fact-finding visit to Chobhar Gorge led by Prof. Dr. Bishal Nath Upreti and Chair Dr. Raju Thapa found that the September 2024 flood was within the gorge’s capacity, recommending against physical alterations and urging upstream embankments, debris monitoring, and multidisciplinary study. The findings were shared with NDRRMA on July 7. The same day, the NPDRR meeting approved the FY 2082/83 work plan, including establishing Provincial Platforms, hosting the Fourth National DRR Conference, and leading national observances. On July 31, a national dialogue addressed post-disaster challenges of landless populations, calling for risk-sensitive land-use planning and alignment of land laws with DRR; DPNet pledged policy inputs for Land Act amendments. On August 1, a DRR dialogue with the Home Minister focused on strengthening NDRRMA, financing, data systems, and early warning. On August 19, Nepal marked World Humanitarian Day, promoting locally led response, volunteer training, and Good Samaritan protections. These efforts reflect DPNet’s leadership in advancing coordinated, inclusive, and risk-informed resilience across Nepal.
