Summary

The article looks at how Musikot, Nepal, has become more urbanized quickly, going from a small bazaar to a medium-sized trading center which subsequently increases its susceptibility to natural disasters. An increase in access to resources and population has resulted in careless construction methods, such as the use of modern building supplies without appropriate seismic tests. The risks associated with these methods were highlighted by the aftermath of the 2015 Gorkha Earthquake, which were made worse by the lack of implementation of building codes and poor urban planning. By using field mapping and seismic evaluation, this study finds significant portions of buildings at high risk of earthquake damage, highlighting the urgent need for seismic training and awareness in rural urbanization strategies.
