Nepal's forest sector significantly contributes to sustainable development by providing essential resources, supporting livelihoods, and promoting economic and social growth through participatory management. It offers opportunities for entrepreneurship, and job creation, and supports agriculture, tourism, and biodiversity conservation. The sector also mitigates natural disasters, enhances environmental hygiene, and aids in climate change adaptation. Guided by the Nepal Constitution and international commitments, the new policy aims to direct forest sector laws and programs, developed with stakeholder input and support from relevant ministries.
