National Framework for Leave No One Behind

Summary

The Government of Nepal is committed to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030 and is developing a National Framework for Leave No One Behind. This framework aims to identify and support the most marginalized groups, particularly focusing on gender, location (rural/urban), caste, ethnicity, and socio-economic status. By studying detailed information across different factors that cause people to be left out or disadvantaged, including socio-economic status, governance, and vulnerability to shocks, the framework targets groups such as Madhesi, Dalits, Muslim and Janajati (Indigenous) communities who consistently rank at the bottom in the hierarchy system. Local implementation will be crucial, involving detailed social assessments and approaches to address the root causes of this marginalization and to achieve SDG targets effectively.
