The presentation focuses on bamboo as a safe, affordable, and sustainable housing solution, alongside a brief overview of Habitat for Humanity. Bamboo construction is prevalent in Nepal, especially in the Eastern Terai region, with over half of households using it for various building purposes. Bamboo's advantages, including rapid growth, sustainability, carbon negativity, and versatility in construction, were highlighted. Challenges such as informal markets, lack of quality grading, and government validation were discussed as barriers to widespread adoption. Recommendations to overcome these obstacles included implementing national guidelines, developing market systems, engaging the private sector, conducting research, and collaborating with academia to promote bamboo construction for sustainable housing was also emphasized in the presentation.
