Kathmandu, Nepal - DPNet-Nepal, in collaboration with the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA), successfully organized the preparatory meeting for the International Day for Disaster Reduction (IDDR) on September 9th, 2019, at the National Emergency Operation Center (NEOC) under MoHA. The meeting witnessed the participation of 27 representatives from government agencies, I/NGOs, and other relevant stakeholders. Mr. Shambhu Prasad Regmi, Chief of the National Emergency Operation Center, presided over the meeting, which aimed to lay the groundwork for a comprehensive IDDR commemoration.
Patna, Bihar - DPNet Nepal took a significant step on July 31st, 2019, by launching an online platform called the 'Indo-Nepal Jal Sambad Samuha' (Indo-Nepal Water Dialogue Group). This initiative, commemorating the historic 'Indo-Nepal Treaty of Peace and Friendship' signed on the same date in 1950, aims to facilitate a meaningful dialogue between NGOs from Nepal and India.
Kathmandu, Nepal - On August 2nd, 2019, DPNet-Nepal successfully organized a monthly dialogue program titled "Discussion Program on Ongoing Monsoon Disaster." The event brought together representatives from various sectors, including I/NGOs, academia, and the private sector, under the guidance of the Acting Chairperson of DPNet-Nepal. Mr. Raju Thapa, the General Secretary of DPNet-Nepal, opened the program by sharing its objectives and extending a warm welcome to all participants.
EpiNurse Project, Nursing Association of Nepal, in collaboration with DPNet organized a monthly dialogue program at CEC hall, Nepal Red Cross Society, Kalimati, Kathmandu on 20th June, 2019. The major purpose of the program was to present EpiNurse project, share its activities and experiences and obtain recommendations for improvement of the EpiNurse project.
Kathmandu, Nepal - On December 26th, 2018, a half-day program titled "Learning Sharing: Major Legal Provisions of Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRR&M) for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in Nepal" was organized. The objective of the event was to raise awareness among member organizations of DPNet-Nepal regarding the significant legal instruments related to DRR&M, specifically focusing on PWDs. The program brought together 29 participants, including 6 females, 22 representing business, communication, and technology (BCT) sectors, and 7 from the Janajati community. These participants were focal persons from various I/NGOs engaged in addressing disability-related issues.
This is update. The discussion program on Risk Sensitive Land Use Planning was organized on 30th May 2019. The program was chaired by Mr. Surya Bahadur Thapa, Chairperson of DPNet-Nepal whereas, Honorable Minister, Padma Kumari Aryal, MoLCPA was the chief guest of the program.
