DPNet-Nepal Organizes Discussion Program on COVID-19 Preparedness

Kathmandu, Nepal - On 16th March 20220, DPNet-Nepal successfully organized a discussion program focusing on COVID-19 preparedness. Chaired by Mr. Surya Bahadur Thapa, Chairperson of DPNet-Nepal, the program brought together representatives from member organizations of DPNet-Nepal, as well as technical advisers. The primary objective of the program was to share the initiatives taken by member organizations regarding COVID-19, provide major updates, and discuss the way forward for DPNet-Nepal as a network in preparing for the pandemic virus.

During the discussion, several key points were highlighted and concluded upon:

1. Collection and Dissemination of Relevant Materials: DPNet-Nepal emphasized the importance of collecting relevant and important materials from the Ministry of Health and Population. These materials would then be disseminated among wider networks to ensure information reaches the community and household levels. By providing accurate and up-to-date information, DPNet-Nepal aims to contribute to the overall awareness and preparedness of the population.
2. Reporting Unfair Market Practices: Member organizations were requested to report any unfair market-related information to DPNet-Nepal or the concerned authorities. This proactive measure aims to prevent the artificial crisis of goods in the market, ensuring fair distribution and availability of essential supplies during the pandemic.
3. Collaboration with Government Agencies: DPNet-Nepal reaffirmed its commitment to closely collaborate with the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) and other concerned government agencies. By working hand-in-hand, DPNet-Nepal aims to coordinate activities and initiatives related to COVID-19 effectively. This collaborative approach strengthens the overall response and preparedness efforts.
4. Development of Organizational Emergency Plans: DPNet-Nepal announced plans to develop sample "organizational level emergency plans" and "work from home guidelines" specifically focusing on pandemic diseases. These resources will serve as references for member organizations, enabling them to establish comprehensive emergency plans and guidelines tailored to the unique challenges posed by pandemics.

The discussion program proved to be a valuable platform for exchanging knowledge, sharing best practices, and strategizing effective responses to the COVID-19 pandemic. DPNet-Nepal's proactive approach and collaborative efforts demonstrate their commitment to safeguarding public health and strengthening the resilience of communities in Nepal.
