The Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction underscores the importance of enhanced governance to mitigate risks, assigning a primary role to the State in this endeavor. The framework emphasizes a multi-sectoral, multi-stakeholder, and multi-level governance approach to building resilience against disasters. National Platforms, facilitated by National Sendai Focal Points, play a pivotal role in coordinating strategies, policies, and actions at the national level. With 37 National Platforms across the Europe Region, each with varying structures, legal statuses, and scopes, the report provides country fact sheets to foster the exchange of best practices and enhance collaboration. Strengthening these National Platforms is deemed essential for the effective regional implementation of the Sendai Framework, facilitated through coordination mechanisms like the European Forum for Disaster Risk Reduction.
