- http://www.rrcap.unep.org/issues/glof/ -- The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in association with the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) in Kathmandu had initiated a project on Glacial Lake Outburst and Flood Monitoring in the Hindu-Kush Himalayas in 1999. The objectives of the project were to: inventory the existing glacial lakes along the Hindu-Kush Himalayas, monitoring the potential risk lakes for draining and preparation of an operational early warning mechanism for GLOF hazards.
The project prepared an inventory of glaciers and glacial lakes and identified potential glacial lake outburst floods in the five countries of Pakistan, India, China, Bhutan and Nepal.
- Inventory for the different countries -- http://www.rrcap.unep.org/issues/glof/glof/index.htm
- www.panda.org -- WWF in Nepal have done some extensive studies in Nepal on the GLOF and produced in addition, some visual advocacy material. Some of the case studies include community early warning etc. I'm sure colleagues in Nepal would be more detailed in their response.
